St Patrick's Day

17/03/2015

In Year One, we celebrated St Patrick's Day by sharing when we feel lucky. We also wrote about people who are worth more to us than gold. It was so much fun getting all dressed up in green!

News & Events

The Year One and Two students braved the weather and headed down to Cottesloe beach on Monday to see the Sculpture by the Sea exhibition. The guided tour was informative and gave the students opportunities to ask questions and learn about the stories and messages behind some of the art work. The top picks included the giant bunny, the red flamingos and the sea anemone. The tour was followed by art activities and the students were able to create some of their open art work using found objects, pasta and popcorn. The fantastic parent representatives organized delicious fish and chips for lunch, even the seagulls thought it was great! We are looking forward to creating our own unique sculptures in class in the coming weeks.

Ice-Cream Treats

09/03/2015

We loved our ice-cream treat day in Year One. As a reward for good behaviour, we coloured in pictures of ice-creams. On our treat day, we were able to make the ice-cream we coloured. This included lollies, sprinkles and chocolate and strawberry topping too!

Mission Day

20/03/2015

Mission Day helped us to raise money for Project Compassion. The children were very excited about the day and they brought along loose change to purchase items and be part of other activities.

A big 'THANK YOU' goes out to the class representatives, Carla and Mary, for organising, setting up and donating hair spray, face paint and accessories. This thanks is also extended to the other wonderful parent hair stylists and face painters who donated their time to help our class stall.

Year One almost made $100 for this wonderful charity.

The first aid incursion, run by St John Ambulance, was interesting and informative. We looked at different scenarios and identified which were emergencies, we learnt about calling '000' and rehearsed what we would say to the operator. There was even some time to role-play what we need to do if we find an unresponsive adult. We have a few impressive paramedics in Year 1!

Pirate Day

12/06/2015

Pirate Day Friday is a national fundraising day raising funds and awareness for research into the cure and prevention of Childhood Brain Tumours. The event takes place on the sameday as white eye patch day (the international fundraising day for Childhood Brain Tumours). The kids and the teachers dressed up as pirates for the day in exchange for a gold coin donation.

WA Museum

16/06/2015

To link in with our history unit, we visited the WA Museum and participated in a program called 'In the Olden Days'. We pretended we were in an old classroom and used slate to do some writing. After, we looked at toys from the past and even had a go playing games like quoits and knucklebones. It was so much fun travelling back in time!
